Wong Fu Productions & Motion Graphics 2024
I had the unique opportunity to work with Wong Fu Productions, creating motion graphics for Phil and Helen's wedding film. The project centered around designing graphics that represented key moments in their relationship, enhancing the emotional storytelling of their wedding video.
Project Scope:
The goal was to design a series of motion graphics that would punctuate significant milestones in the couple's journey together. These graphics played a vital role in transitioning between scenes, adding depth to the narrative while visually emphasizing the memories they shared. From the lighthearted early moments of their relationship to the heartfelt proposal, the graphics captured the essence of each moment in a delicate and visually compelling way.
Creative Process:
Research & Ideation: I began by gaining a deep understanding of Phil and Helen’s story, working closely with Wong Fu Productions to align on the tone and style. This helped shape the design language—an elegant, warm aesthetic that was both timeless and personal.
Design & Animation: Using After Effects, I created fluid animations that blended seamlessly with the wedding footage. The color palette, typography, and transitions were designed to flow naturally with the mood of each scene, ensuring that the motion graphics not only looked beautiful but also felt intuitive to the storytelling.
Iteration & Feedback: Collaboration was key throughout the project. Regular feedback sessions with Wong Fu allowed for refinements, ensuring the final graphics resonated emotionally while maintaining the overall visual cohesion of the film.
Outcome:
The final result was a series of motion graphics that added a layer of emotional depth to Phil and Helen’s wedding film. By thoughtfully integrating each graphic into key moments, the video became more than just a visual record of the day—it transformed into an immersive narrative experience that celebrated their love story.
The attention to detail, seamless transitions, and user-centered design of the motion graphics mirror the principles I bring to UI/UX design. By focusing on how these visuals would connect with viewers, I was able to craft an experience that was both visually engaging and emotionally resonant, much like the intuitive and meaningful interactions I strive to create in digital product design.
This project highlighted the power of subtle, well-crafted design to evoke emotion and elevate an experience, reinforcing my approach to creating thoughtful and impactful user journeys in my UI/UX work.
